It doesn’t matter if a driver is experienced or a complete beginner, driving alongside commercial trucks like semi-trailers can be nerve-racking, and rightfully so. The average passenger vehicle weighs a little over 4,000 points while, in Indiana, semi-trailers may weigh up to 80,000 pounds. It’s easy to see why the risk of serious or fatal injuries increases dramatically when semi-trailers collide with passenger vehicles. Also, because they are so big, semis have large blind spots, so it can be more difficult for truck drivers to see smaller passenger vehicles driving nearby.
