On Behalf of | May 4, 2024 | PERSONAL INJURY (PLAINTIFF) - Motor Vehicle Accidents

The arrival of summer in Indiana means there will be more motorcycles on the road. Motorcycles are a fun way to get around and explore scenic roadways here. However, motorcyclists can be a risky way to travel. Riders are often faced with unique dangers and hazards that are not present for motorists in passenger vehicles. Also, motorcycle accidents involving passenger vehicles have a higher chance of being fatal since riders are minimally protected and exposed to the elements.

Motorcyclist killed

A recent crash in Hancock County involving a motorcycle and another vehicle claimed the life of a man. The accident happened during the evening hours on US 52 near Creekside Drive. Reports said a motorcycle was headed west on US 52 when the driver of an SUV pulled out of an adjacent restaurant parking lot to get on US 52. According to police reports, the SUV drove in front of the motorcycle causing the motorcycle to hit the driver’s side of the SUV.

Authorities said the motorcyclist was thrown from the bike and seriously injured in the crash. Reportedly, the rider tragically died a short time later at a local hospital. Police said the SUV driver was not injured. A portion of US 52 was closed for three hours while the accident was investigated.

Help for victims and families

Unfortunately, no one can predict when a serious or fatal accident will happen. Those in Indiana who have suffered injuries or loss as the result of negligence in motor vehicle accidents could benefit by seeking the services of an experienced attorney. Damages from a successful claim could help victims and families recover from a tragic accident.
