Obviously, no person truly expects or wants to be involved in a crash. Yet, there are hundreds of car accidents that happen every single day across Indiana. Luckily, most of these collisions are considered fender benders and minor inconveniences. However, any time a driver gets behind the wheel and takes to the road, there is always a risk that he or she could be involved in a serious or deadly accident.
Details of a head-on collision
Recently in West Lafayette, a head-on crash left one driver in critical condition. The accident happened during the afternoon in the eastbound lanes of Sagamore Parkway near the Wabash River bridge. Reportedly, a pickup truck was traveling westbound when the driver apparently lost control and crossed the center median.
Reports said the pickup truck then crashed head-on into an eastbound SUV. Authorities said the driver of the SUV had to be extracted and was taken to an area hospital with serious injuries. A passenger in the SUV suffered non-life-threatening injuries. According to police, two dogs in the SUV were killed in the crash. The accident remains under investigation.
Help for victims and families
There is no way of knowing when an accident will happen. When a person in Indiana suffers injuries or the loss of an immediate family member in car accidents caused by negligence, victims and families have the right to take legal action. By speaking with a lawyer and filing a claim, those affected could obtain monetary damages to help with financial losses that may have occurred due to an unfortunate accident.
