Anyone who has driven through Indiana is likely aware that tractor-trailers and other large commercial trucks are a common sight here. However, when a passenger vehicle is involved in an accident with one of these massive rigs, the results can be devastating. Tractor-trailers can crush a passenger car like a tin can, leaving victims with critical or fatal injuries.

Accident with multiple injuries

Recently in Gibson County, an accident involving two tractor-trailers resulted in three drivers suffering injuries. The accident happened during the afternoon hours near Princeton at the intersection of County Road 100 West and US 41. According to police reports, a red semi-truck towing a box trailer rear-ended another tractor-trailer and knocked it into a sedan.

Authorities said the drivers of all three vehicles were injured, with one driver requiring treatment at an area hospital. One man who lives nearby said he travels through the area frequently and commonly sees tractor-trailers running red lights at the intersection. Reportedly, investigations into the accident are ongoing and police are conducting tests to determine if drugs or alcohol were a factor.

Legal recourse

Tractor-trailers are present on major highways and interstates throughout Indiana at all hours of the day and night. Although these trucks play an important role in the economy, they are potentially dangerous to other motorists. Those in Indiana who have suffered injuries or the loss of loved ones in truck accidents caused by negligence can get help by speaking with an experienced personal injury attorney. A successful claim could result in a monetary judgment for documented losses.
