I Never Back Down From Doing What Is Right

Unfortunately, not every driver in Indiana is as attentive as they should be behind the wheel. Negligent drivers are a serious threat to everyone on or near the road. Whether it’s driving distracted, speeding or recklessly, the consequences can be life-altering and, sometimes, life-ending.

Fatal crash details

A recent accident near Tetersburg left one person dead and others injured and may have been caused by a negligent teenage driver. The tragedy occurred along State Road 28 near County Road 1050. According to reports, a westbound sedan driven by a 17-year-old attempted to pass two pickup trucks that were towing ammonia tanks on State Road 28. Reports said an eastbound semi-truck approached and the sedan sideswiped both the semi-truck and the lead pickup.

Reportedly, the impact caused the semi-truck driver to lose control of the vehicle, cross the centerline and crash head-on into the second pickup. Authorities said the driver of the second pickup truck and the driver of the semi were both flown to an area hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the semi was pronounced dead at the hospital. Police said the 17-year-old driver had minor injuries.

What can be done in the aftermath of an accident?

Unfortunately, it is impossible to predict or control the actions of other drivers. Those in Indiana who are hurt or suffer the loss of loved ones in motor vehicle accidents caused by negligent drivers have the right to pursue damages by pursuing a civil lawsuit for monetary damages. An experienced personal injury attorney can help victims and families obtain the compensation they rightly deserve.
