Nearly every time Indiana drivers get behind the wheel these days, they are faced with a multitude of distractions that can take their attention off the road. Safely operating a motor vehicle requires the driver to be always alert and aware of their surroundings. Unfortunately, there will always be those who take driving for granted and throw caution to the wind, thus endangering the lives of others.

Details of a deadly accident

Recently in Daleville, two people were killed in a multi-vehicle accident apparently caused by a wrong-way driver. The crash happened during the overnight hours in the southbound lanes of Interstate 69. According to reports from Indiana State Police, a silver sedan was headed north in the southbound lanes and crashed head-on into another sedan at mile marker 234.

Reportedly, a tractor-trailer and another car were involved as well. Tragically, authorities said the driver and passenger in the sedan that was hit were both killed in the crash. The wrong-way driver in the silver sedan was injured in the accident, reports said. Police suspect that alcohol played a factor in the deadly accident.

Help for victims and families

Every year, thousands of fatal car accidents around the country are caused by distracted or intoxicated drivers. These types of accidents are totally preventable. Those in Indiana who have suffered injuries or loss in car accidents caused by the negligence of another party can get help by speaking with an attorney. A lawsuit, if successful, can result in much-needed compensation to ease the pain and suffering of victims and families.
