Driving in the wrong direction would seem like a hard mistake to make. Head-on collisions are some of the deadliest types of car accidents and are typically caused by wrong-way drivers. A recent fatal crash in Tipton may have been caused by a driver who was traveling in the wrong direction.
Accident details
The Indiana crash happened around 10 p.m. on South Main Street just north of County Road 300 South. Apparently, a sedan and a Volkswagen were involved. According to accident reports, the sedan was headed north on Main Street when, for unknown reasons, the driver went over the centerline of the roadway and began driving in the southbound lane.
The sedan then crashed head-on into a southbound Volkswagon. Tragically, authorities said the front-seat passenger in the VW was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Reportedly, both drivers were injured and taken to a local medical center for treatment. Police said neither drugs or alcohol were a factor in the accident, but investigations are ongoing.
