Deadly head-on crash may have been caused by tailgating

One of the most frightening things for any Indiana driver to see is another vehicle coming straight for them. When two vehicles are headed in opposite directions and crash into each other head-on, the consequences are often disastrous. Head-on collisions are possibly the most-deadly types of motor vehicle crashes.  

Driver killed in head-on collision 

Tailgating may have contributed to a recent head-on crash in Crown Point that claimed the life of a 19-year-old woman and injured two teenagers. The incident happened during the afternoon in the 7000-block of East 117th Avenue. According to reports from witnesses, an eastbound SUV was tailgating another eastbound SUV and attempted to pass on the two-lane road.  

Reportedly, the SUV crossed the centerline, entered the westbound lane and collided head-on with an oncoming sedan. Tragically, authorities said the driver of the sedan was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash. Two teenage passengers in the sedan who were taken to an area hospital with injuries. There was no word on the condition of the SUV driver.
